The Bedford County Chamber Foundation is pleased to renew our Distinguished Speaker Series with a special presentation featuring leadership lessons of American history presented by attorney, historical guide, author and leadership facilitator, David Cross

The program will take place Monday, May 22nd, noon-2pm at the Bedford County Historical Society's Hall at Kinton's Knob.  Following a catered luncheon, David Cross will share insights about the first U.LS. President, including his take on George Washington's Insight and Action: How Washington Created Himself, Why Leadership Matters, Adversity Catalyzes Growth, Making Your Own Plan, and Staying the Course.

The program includes themes of leadership development and team-building, perfect for a business audience, as well as those interested in the historic facts.

Indispensable Leadership: Before he battled the British, George Washington had to battle his own worst tendencies. The George Washington we are familiar with, the man who would be called "first in war; first in peace; and first in the hearts of his countrymen," created himself through the process of winning that internal battle, a battle that every leader must experience.

In this program, historian David Cross breaks down how George Washington became the Indispensable Leader of the Revolutionary War, and then demonstrates the techniques he used to secure victory. Learn how Washington shifted his leadership tactics throughout his life (4 times!) to fit the particular circumstance he faced. David will use a combination of cutting-edge science and history to demonstrate the lessons of leadership that will enrich every individual who attends.
