This month’s Business After Hours will be hosted at Your Safe Haven’s NEW location in Bedford at 220 South Thomas Street, celebrating 20 years of service for the non-profit organization.

The business mixer will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28.
A ribbon cutting will also be held at the new location on Monday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Your Safe Haven, was incorporated in 1996 in response to the community’s needs for a program to address the issue of domestic violence and its impact on the health, safety and housing needs of individuals in Bedford County.
As planning stages progressed, it became apparent that the residents of Bedford County would be best served by the consolidation of the newly planned domestic violence program with the existing Victim Services Program in Bedford County, which served victims of sexual assault and provided victim/witness services to crime victims.

Other services include emergency shelter, counseling, community intervention as well as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) / sexual assault response team (SART).  The SANE/SART program is the result of a first-of-its-kind collaboration between two rural counties to bring this important service to our area.  YSF also recently established its own legal department to service victims needing protection orders for domestic violence, sexual assault or intimidation.
