SUMMARY:Healthy U Lunch-n-Learn
DESCRIPTION:There is a lot of confusion over what we are to eat day in and day out. Just go to your local Walmart or grocery store and look at the grocery cart contents of people in line to check out. The carts tend to be filled with highly processed food products and sugary drinks. It is hard to know how to eat. We will start our time by wrestling with the question: Do you eat to live or live to eat?\n\n \n\nThis workshop will help participants to learn how to read food labels\, calculate their BMI and will discuss the latest research on how to eat healthy. (hint: Your grandparents knew how to eat!)\n\n\n\nDr. Thompson will also touch base on the latest research that looks at nutrition\, exercise and Alzheimer's disease. This workshop will be an interactive time and participants will walk away with an action plan to apply brain health and quality of life.\n\n\n\nJoin us for this Dutch-treat Lunch-n-Learn!\n\n \n\nMeet ACM Faculty Partner\, Kathleen Gawel Thompson\, PhD\n\nAssoc. Professor of Biology\n\nThompson has a BS degree in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University and a PhD from Thomas Jefferson University in Developmental Biology/Anatomy. She has been an instructor at ACM for more than 15 years teaching such classes as Biology\, Human Biology\, Anatomy & Physiology and Student Success. Her favorite class to teach at ACM is nutrition.
