Ask the ACM Expert: Grant Lunch-n-Learn
The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present a special Ask the ACM Expert lunch-and-learn workshop: Identifying Funding Sources and Writing Winning Grant Proposals: August 15, 2018 from noon-2pm at the Russell House.
Have you been asked to secure funding for a project? This session will provide an overview and equip you with the skills needed to raise funds by discovering how and where to look for potential funders. The following objectives will be incorporated into the session:
1. To analyze sources of Public Funding.
2. To analyze sources of Private Funding.
3. To review the basic components of a grant proposal.
4. To understand what funders are looking for in proposals.
5. To differentiate between public and private funding sources.
6. To find funding sources for your specific program.
7. To analyze successful grants.
David serves Allegany College of Maryland as the Vice President of Advancement and Community Relations & Executive Director of the Allegany College of Maryland Foundation, where he has a major role in providing access to postsecondary education through a dual-responsibility position that seeks support toward fulfillment of the College’s mission.
He and his wife, Elaine, a Certified Public Accountant, strive to instill the importance of community, integrity, and civic responsibility into the lives of their three children, ages 21, 18, and 15. David lives by the concept of servant leadership, paying close attention to the needs of the organization and those within it, and always putting the interests of others ahead of his own.
His serve-first concept extends to leadership roles in the community, including the Kiwanis Club of Cumberland, where he was twice selected Kiwanian of the Year, and the Rotary Club of Cumberland, where he currently serves as a board member and Past President. He continues to give back to the community by serving as a Board Member for the ACT 1st Federal Credit Union, the Board of the Potomac Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 24 Committee, the Frostburg Memorial Park, and the Community Wellness Coalition. His keen interest in youth development includes soccer, basketball, and softball coaching and his church, where he is a youth leader as well as a deacon.
